What it is
A payment reversed through the bank
A cardholder disputing a deposit through the bank. Some chargebacks are fraud with stolen cards that arrives together with low-quality traffic. A high chargeback share on a source is a signal to cut it before the payment provider cuts the operator.
Example
What it looks like in numbers
A source gave deposits at $28, an excellent result. Six weeks later, chargebacks came on 14% of those deposits; on other sources, under 1%. The source was closed, and the payment provider raised the operator’s reserve.
